Sustainalytics Named Best Sustainable & ESG Research & Ratings Provider
by Investment Week

Firm Recognized in Inaugural Category for Expanding its Suite of High-Quality ESG Research, Ratings and Data to Support Investors and Advance ESG Investing into the Mainstream

LONDON, December 3, 2020 – Sustainalytics, a Morningstar company and a leading global provider of ESG research, ratings and data, has been honoured as this year’s Best Sustainable & ESG Research & Ratings Provider by Investment Week, a news and analysis service reporting on the investment market for advisers and wealth managers. The award honours Sustainalytics’ superior research, approach to materiality and transparent methodology that underpins its flagship ESG Risk Ratings product.

Investment Week’s Sustainable & ESG Investment Awards 2020 aim to honour best-in-class fund providers, research and ratings teams and services providers who play a pivotal role in advancing sustainable and ESG investing moves into the mainstream. The Best Sustainable & ESG Research & Ratings Provider category is a new award in 2020, acknowledging the growth in the services sector supporting ESG and Sustainable investing. The Sustainable & ESG Investment Awards 2020 finalists were judged by an independent panel, inclusive of representatives from prominent asset managers and investor support services. The nominees were evaluated against a range of criteria including the clarity of sustainable objectives, strong performance, sector experience, transparency, compliance, reputation, and client service.

“Sustainalytics is honoured to be the first winner in Investment Week’s newly added category of Best Sustainable & ESG Research & Ratings Provider for 2020,” said Catalina Secreteanu, Executive Director, Client Relations. “The EU Sustainable Finance Action Plan and strong interest in ESG issues is driving investor demand for ESG products and services, and we are keen to support investors in achieving their sustainability goals. Our team is proud to be recognized by respected industry experts for our continued focus on our high-quality research, innovation and transparency.”

Sustainalytics’ industry-leading ESG Risk Ratings are designed to help investors identify and understand financially material ESG risks in their portfolio companies and how that risk might affect performance. The ESG Risk Ratings measure a company’s exposure to industry-specific material ESG risks and how well a company is managing those risks. This multi-dimensional way of measuring ESG risk combines the concepts of management and exposure to arrive at an assessment of ESG risk – the ESG Risk Rating – that is comparable across all industries. Sustainalytics’ ESG Risk Ratings provide a quantitative measure of unmanaged ESG risk and distinguish between five categories, including negligible, low, medium, high and severe.
