Morningstar today announced the appointment of Jodie Tapscott as head of climate and nature solutions at Morningstar Sustainalytics. Based in London, Jodie is reporting to David Pagliaro, chief strategy & product officer and incoming president of Morningstar Sustainalytics.
Jodie brings over 20 years of experience in financial services and deep expertise in sustainable finance to this role. An award-winning commercial ESG leader with investment fluency, she has designed and delivered impactful sustainable investment solutions across multiple markets. Most recently, Jodie served as senior vice president of responsible investing strategy and portfolio solutions at AllianceBernstein, before previously acting as Sustainalytics’ head of APAC ex Japan, and executive manager of responsible investing and corporate responsibility at CFS in Australia.
In her new role, Jodie will lead Morningstar Sustainalytics’ climate and nature product strategy, development and delivery. Her remit includes driving innovation at the intersection of climate mitigation, adaptation, and nature resilience. She will oversee the advancement of investment-focused research, metrics, data and reporting solutions that help investors understand risks, opportunities, impacts, and dependencies across climate and nature.
Morningstar Sustainalytics’ existing suite of climate and nature solutions includes carbon emissions data, low carbon transition ratings, physical climate risk measures, and nature-related datasets. These are complemented by climate and nature metrics embedded within Sustainalytics’ broader research, regulatory and stewardship offerings, as well as a growing range of net-zero and biodiversity-focused index solutions. Jodie and her team will initially focus on enhancing the product portfolio through launches such as the NZIF toolkit, a consolidated climate dashboard, next-generation physical climate and biodiversity value-at-risk tools and expanded climate and nature data coverage.
David Pagliaro, chief strategy and product officer and incoming president, Morningstar Sustainalytics said: “We are delighted to have Jodie join us in this pivotal role. Her deep expertise in climate and nature solutions, combined with her global sustainable finance leadership, will be invaluable as we enter a new chapter for the business. Jodie’s experience will help us drive innovation in one of the most urgent and consequential areas of the market. I’m excited about what lies ahead for Sustainalytics and look forward to working with Jodie and our team to strengthen our offering and deliver even greater value to our clients.”
Jodie Tapscott, head of climate and nature solutions, Morningstar Sustainalytics said: “Climate change is one of the biggest systemic risks of our generation, and investment capital continues to play a critical role in financing global sustainability solutions. Morningstar Sustainalytics empowers investors with the data, insights and tools required to make informed decisions on investment risks, opportunities, dependencies and impacts. I’m thrilled to join the business at this vital industry juncture, in a role that enables me to apply an investor-lens to accelerating deforestation, water stress, and ocean degradation, in support of planetary and economic resilience.”
