Morningstar Sustainalytics’ SFDR research series wins Environmental Finance’s IMPACT award
Morningstar Sustainalytics has been recognized for “Best Impact Research” in the Environmental Finance IMPACT Investment Awards, with its submission of the SFDR Article 8 and Article 9 Funds in Review series.
The annual awards recognize and reward outstanding work in impact investing and highlight emerging best practices across all asset classes and geographies.
The SFDR Article 8 and 9 Funds in Review series offers quarterly data-driven insights into the EU fund market as defined by the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR), detailing Article 8 and Article 9 fund flows, assets, launches, closures, reclassifications, renaming activity, and updates on regulatory developments.
This series is among Morningstar’s most recognized and downloaded publications, with over 10,800 downloads in 2024 and 4,800 between January and August 2025. It is valued for its structured analysis, actionable insights, and relevance to ongoing regulatory developments in sustainable finance.
The SFDR Article 8 and Article 9 Funds in Review series provides more than a quarterly snapshot – it offers an independent lens into the fast-evolving world of ESG investing, which, given the current market backdrop, is more important than ever. With its blend of hard data, qualitative analysis, and thematic insights, the research series enables asset managers, professional investors, intermediaries, and policymakers to navigate a fast-changing market landscape and remains a consistent resource they can rely on.
Hortense Bioy, Head of Sustainable Investing Research at Morningstar Sustainalytics, said: "Our SFDR research series, now in its fifth year, has become a trusted resource for market participants seeking clarity in a rapidly evolving regulatory and market environment. As we look ahead to 2026 and the SFDR overhaul recently proposed by the European Commission, these reports will continue to be essential for investors adapting to change. Thank you to Environmental Finance for this recognition, and congratulations to the team for their continued dedication to producing these reports."
