Morningstar Sustainalytics Launches Engagement 360 Solution for Investors

Firm’s Stewardship Services team now offers its suite of engagement programs
in one comprehensive package

February 24, 2022, Toronto – Morningstar Sustainalytics, a leading global provider of ESG research, ratings, and data, today announced the launch of Engagement 360, an integrative stewardship solution that combines all of Sustainalytics’ engagement programs in one bundle. This service offers institutional investors a comprehensive approach to address systemic risks and underlying ESG issues in their portfolios.

Asset managers and asset owners are under increasing pressure from clients, regulators, and shareholders to act on ESG considerations such as decarbonization, biodiversity, and human rights. With the rising volume and scope of key ESG issues across industries, investors are pursuing engagement opportunities to address topics that align with their clients’ financial objectives and values. To help professionals fulfill their fiduciary duties, Sustainalytics’ Stewardship Services team collaborates closely with investors to engage with companies on their management of ESG issues. Investors can leverage Sustainalytics’ Engagement 360 for applications including:

  • Setting tangible targets to address risks and improve a company’s ESG performance systematically;
  • Leveraging engagement outcomes to inform investment and proxy voting decisions;
  • Reviewing companies’ compliance with relevant regulations and global standards, including the EU Action Plan, the Principles for Responsible Investing, and the UN Global Compact; and
  • Reporting on progress and outcomes mapped to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“We’re excited to offer investors the opportunity to expand their ESG stewardship reach and capacity with Engagement 360,” said Ruthann Bartello, commercialization director at Sustainalytics. “Collaborating with Sustainalytics’ experienced global Stewardship Services team brings investors together to engage on themes, risks, and global standards that apply to their ESG implementation strategy.”

Sustainalytics is uniquely positioned as a leading one-stop-shop ESG solutions provider, where its research methodologies and engagement services are strategically aligned. Investors looking for a conventional and targeted approach can still access individual engagement programs, including Global Standards Engagement, Material Risk Engagement, Thematic Engagement and the ESG Voting Overlay.

Available on Global Access, Sustainalytics’ online self-serve portal, Engagement 360’s dashboard delivery gives clients the flexibility to view their stewardship activities by full holdings or filter by portfolio, region, or a variety of other input fields.
